Learn more about what makes a successful goverment audit.
Good audits require careful planning, oversight and evidence collection. The auditor must be independent, the audit staff should be carefully trained and the audit must be reviewed by outside peer reviewers.
The Auditor's Office will undergo a peer review at least once every three years. A team of independent auditors will conduct the audit of the Auditor's Office to make sure the Auditor's Office is meeting good auditing standards.
Office of the City Auditor follows a set of audit guidelines called the Generally Accepted Government Auditing Standards (GAGAS). In March 2010, an independent team
of government auditors reviewed the work done by the Office of the City Auditor between 2007-2009. According to their review, the Office of the City Auditor met the
highest standards in government performance auditing during that time.
