Public Ethics Commission
The Public Ethics Commission (PEC) is a seven-member independent, non-partisan commission made up of Oakland residents and charged with ensuring fairness, openness, honesty and integrity in Oakland City government.
The Planning Commission promotes the orderly growth and development of the City through studies, decisions on development proposals, policy recommendations to the City Council, and related activities.
Bicyclist and Pedestrian Advisory Commission
Oakland's Bicyclist & Pedestrian Advisory Commission (BPAC) was established on February 4, 2014 to advise the City Council on programs and projects related to walking and bicycling.
Mayor's Commission on Persons with Disabilities
The Mayor’s Commission on Persons with Disabilities (MCPD) represents and addresses the concerns of the disability community.
Landmarks Preservation Advisory Board
The Board identifies historic landmarks in Oakland, conducts design review hearings on historic properties, and advises the City Planning Commission and City Council on preservation.
Budget Advisory Commission
The BAC advises the City Council on expenditures, revenues, and financial policies. The BAC’s advice generally takes the form of informational reports submitted to the Finance & Management Committee of the City Council.

Oakland Fund for Children & Youth Planning and Oversight Committee (POC)

Civil Service Board
The responsibilities of the Civil Service Board include enforcement of the Civil Service Rules; approval of the exemption of positions from the competitive service; approval of classification specifications and performing appellate duties
Commission on Aging
The Mayor’s Commission on Aging was established in 1980 to advise the Mayor and the City Council about issues affecting Oakland seniors.
Head Start Advisory Board
The Board provides advice and recommendations to the City Council around Program planning and how the Program can best address the needs of Head Start eligible families.
Housing, Residential Rent and Relocation Board
The Housing Residential Rent and Relocation Board assumes all the duties and functions heretofore exercised by the Housing Advisory and Appeals Board, Relocation Appeals Board, and the Housing Advisory and Appeal
Library Advisory Commission
The Library Advisory Commission reports and makes recommendations to the Oakland City Council on Oakland Public Library policies; provides citizen oversight of Measure Q tax funds; and advocates on behalf of OPL programs and services.
Oakland - Alameda Coliseum JPA Commission
The Oakland - Alameda County Coliseum Authority is a joint powers agency established by the City of Oakland and the County of Alameda to finance improvements to the Coliseum Complex and to manage the Coliseum Complex on behalf of the City and the County.
Oakland Animal Services Community Advisory Commission
The Oakland Animal Services Community Advisory Committee will provide City staff with professional advice, technical assistance, guidance, insight and recommendations about best practices regarding the OAS
Oakland Army Base Jobs Oversight Commission
The purpose of the Oversight Commission is to ensure compliance with the Jobs Policies in connection with the redevelopment of the former Oakland Army Base.
Oakland Housing Authority
The Oakland Housing Authority was established to receive federal funds to provide housing for low-income residents of the City of Oakland, California.
Oakland Workforce Development Board
The Oakland WDB oversees the federally-funded employment and training programs and services in Oakland. These programs and services help job seekers gain employment and connect businesses with a qualified workforce.
Paramount Theater of the Arts Board
The Paramount Theatre of the Arts is a non-profit corporation organized for the purpose of operating and maintaining the Paramount Theatre for the benefit of the City of Oakland.
Parks and Recreation Advisory Commission
This Commission is responsible for advising the Mayor, Council, City Administrator, and the Oakland Parks and Recreation Department on all matters relating to the general policy and operation of the parks and recreation system.
Police and Fire Retirement Board
The Oakland Police and Fire Retirement System is dedicated to protection and prudent investing of the pension funds for the benefit of the PFRS retirees and beneficiaries. PFRS strives to give the beneficiaries of this retirement system friendly and courteous service.
The purpose of the Police Commission is to oversee the Oakland Police Department's policies, practices and customs to meet national standards of constitutional policing and to oversee the Community Police Review Agency that investigates police misconduct and recommends discipline.
Privacy Advisory Commission
The Privacy Advisory Commission provides advice to the City of Oakland on best practices to protect Oaklanders' privacy rights in connection with the City's purchase and use of surveillance equipment and other technology that collects or stores our data.
Public Art Advisory Committee
The Public Art Advisory Committee works with staff to develop program policies and procedures and approves sites, budgets, selection methods, and proposals for public art in Oakland.
Public Safety and Services Violence Prevention Oversight Commission
The Public Safety and Services Oversight Commission oversees the proper administration of the revenue collection and spending, and the implementation of the programs funded through Measure Z: The 2014 Oakland Public Safety and Services Violence Prevention Act revenue. Members are appointed by the Mayor and City Councilmembers.
Sugar Sweetened Beverages Community Advisory Board
The SSB Advisory Board advises the City Council and makes recommendations on how and to what extent the Council should establish and/or fund programs to prevent or reduce the health consequences of the consumption of sugar-sweetened beverages in Oakland communities.
Youth Advisory Commission
The Oakland Youth Advisory Commission (OYAC), empowers Oakland youth with leadership training and civic engagement opportunities and provides a platform for young people to enter the public arena and tackle important youth issues related to education, employment, public safety, the environment and health.
